Best Work Pals in Palworld 1.0: Ranked by Base Task
Who mines, plants, hauls, cooks and cools best at your base in Palworld 1.0.5? A ranking of all 12 work types using suitability levels pulled from the game files, an accessible pick for every task and tips to boost productivity without relying on legendaries.
A good base in Palworld is not the one with the most Pals. It is the one with the right Pal on each job. Every Pal has work suitability levels from 1 to 8 across up to twelve types: Handiwork, Transporting, Mining, Lumbering, Planting, Watering, Kindling, Generating Electricity, Cooling, Gathering, Medicine Production and Farming. The higher the level, the faster the Pal performs that task and the more stations it can operate.
This list was pulled straight from the Palworld 1.0.5 game files, the same data behind PalBoard’s Pal catalog. For each task you get the top of the ranking, an accessible pick for players still in the mid game and how to obtain each one. In the catalog you can filter by work type and sort by level.
Before you build the crew
- Level 8 is the cap. There is only one level 8 Pal per work type, and almost all of them are endgame. A level 6 or 7 is plenty for any base.
- Condensing raises the level. Taking a Pal to 4 stars in the Pal Condenser adds +1 to its work suitability. A 4-star Anubis becomes level 7 in Handiwork and Mining.
- Passives matter as much as the level. Artisan (+50% work speed), Workaholic and Serious speed up any Pal. See the full list in the passive skills section.
- Breeding is the shortcut. Most Pals below can be bred from common parents. Use the Path Finder to find the shortest route from what you already own.
- Raid Pals (Bellanoir and Bellanoir Libero) do not spawn in the world: they come from the Summoning Altar and are an endgame reward.
Handiwork
The most contested job: workbenches, assembly lines and most production depend on it.

Accessible pick: Anubis is still the best investment. It is bred from several mid-level pairs and also mines at level 6. See the pairs that produce Anubis. Sekhmet, winner of the 2026 popularity poll, is a rare but non-legendary alternative.
Transporting
Transporters carry what everyone else produces to the chests. Without them the base stalls with items on the ground.

Watering

Accessible pick: Azurobe (level 4, level 40 alpha) is the water mount everyone catches mid game and it waters well. Jormuntide is the goal: level 7 and breedable.
Kindling
Kindling feeds furnaces, cooking and smelting. A good fire Pal is what speeds up ingot production the most.
| Pal | Level | How to get |
|---|---|---|
8 | Level 78 alpha, World Tree |
7 | Breeding |

Accessible pick: Grizzbolt, a level 30 alpha on the starting island, is level 5 and powers any mid-game base. Mossanda Lux (level 4, level 31 alpha) and Univolt (level 3) are the early alternatives.
Cooling
| Pal | Level | How to get |
|---|---|---|
8 | Endgame |
7 | Level 60 alpha, legendary |
6 | Rare, frozen regions |

6 | Level 55 alpha |
Accessible pick: Univolt Cryst is rare but not legendary and already delivers level 6. Early on, Icelyn (level 5, common) and Kingpaca Cryst (level 4, level 46 alpha).
Gathering
| Pal | Level | How to get |
|---|---|---|
8 | Level 70 alpha, legendary |

6 | Level 58 alpha or breeding |
6 | Rare, Sunreach |
Accessible pick: Verdash (level 5, level 35 alpha) and, again, Lyleen. Gathering is rarely the bottleneck: a level 5 is enough for the plantations.
Medicine Production
| Pal | Level | How to get |
|---|---|---|
8 | Endgame |
7 | Level 58 alpha or breeding |
7 | Raid |
6 | Level 78 alpha |
6 | Common, level 66 alpha |
Accessible pick: Lyleen Noct sits right next to regular Lyleen on the map. Elizabee and Petallia (level 4) cover the early game.
Farming (Ranch)
For Farming the level matters less than what the Pal produces. Each species drops a different item at the Ranch:
| Pal | Level | Produces |
|---|---|---|
4 | Gold Coins |
4 | High Quality Cloth |
3 | Honey |
3 | High Quality Cloth |
2 | Milk |
1 | High Quality Pal Oil |
1 | Eggs |
1 | Wool |
1 | Spheres and arrows |
Honey, milk and eggs are the base of most food recipes, so a Ranch with Beegarde, Mozzarina and Chikipi earns its slot in any base.
Pals that do everything
If base slots are tight, these cover several jobs at once:
- Anubis: Handiwork 6, Mining 6, Transporting 4.
- Lyleen: Planting 7, Gathering 6, Handiwork 5, Medicine 5.
- Wumpo Botan: Transporting 6, Lumbering 5, Planting 3, Handiwork 3.
- Dualith: Transporting 6, Mining 6, Lumbering 5.
- Knocklem: Transporting 7 and Mining 7.
- Dandilord: Planting 8, Handiwork 6, Medicine 6.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Handiwork Pal in Palworld 1.0?
Solenne is the only level 8. Among accessible options, Anubis (level 6) remains the best value because it is breedable and also mines.
What is the best miner?
Aegidron, level 8, in the World Tree. Blazamut, Astegon and Knocklem are level 7 and live in Palpagos.
Can work level go up?
Yes. Condensing a Pal to 4 stars adds +1 to its suitability level. Passives like Artisan raise speed, not the level.
Are legendaries worth using at the base?
Only if you have spares. A level 6 Pal with good passives and 4 stars outperforms an uncondensed legendary.
Where can I see every Pal for a given job?
In PalBoard’s Pal catalog, filter by work type and sort by level. Each Pal’s page shows all its suitabilities, partner skill and breeding pairs.
